Louisa Squires Louisa Squires, MA, Licensed Psychotherapist

Are you feeling stuck? Struggling with an important relationship, tired of feeling stressed or anxious all the time, or wondering why a past trauma keeps getting in your way? My joy and passion comes from helping teens and adults get unstuck and achieve more empowered, meaningful and authentic lives.

I offer a supportive and accepting space, a sanctuary, where transformation and healing happen. My style is calm, mature and practical. I work collaboratively with clients to clarify goals and develop and implement a tailored treatment approach. While my methods are based on the latest research finding on effective therapies, the heart of successful therapy is a trusting and authentic relationship.

I help people with a variety of issues, including relationships, anxiety, self-esteem, substance abuse, and life transitions, but my mission is helping people who are struggling with the effects of trauma recover. Unresolved trauma underlies many of the issues that bring people to therapy. We now know that the key to healing trauma is transforming how it is remembered in the body. I have advanced training and expertise in the treatment of trauma using mindfulness-oriented and body-centered methods.

I am a graduate of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, provider of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and a teacher of MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction). I am also a Disaster Mental Health volunteer with the American Red Cross. In 2005, I earned my Master's degree in Counselling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University.

Call me at 408-380-3010 for a free initial telephone consultation. I offer daytime and evening hours and a sliding fee scale for those experiencing financial hardship.
