FAQs

Do I need an appointment to come into the clinic?
Yes, we require an appointment for office visits or IV therapy. We can occasionally accommodate same day appointments for B12 shots during the week. You do not need an appointment during our B-12 Happy Hour (Wednesdays 3-6pm and Saturdays 10-12pm).

How long are visits?
Initial visits are 60-120 minutes. This gives our doctors time to go over your health history and current health conditions, do a physical exam, suggest medications or supplements, and formulate a treatment plan unique to you.

Follow up visits are anywhere from 15-60 minutes long, depending on how much time your doctor thinks that you will need.

Why are visits so long?
An appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor is significantly longer than an appointment with your traditional medical doctor! We strive to find the cause of your health concerns, which can be complicated and multifactorial. We want to get to know you and your lifestyle and work with you to come up with a plan that is unique to you.

Can you be my PCP?
PCP, primary care provider, is defined as the first point of contact for acute and chronic illnesses. It’s who holds the pieces of your care. At SCNMC our naturopathic doctors can do these things for you. However, insurance does not recognize Naturopathic Doctors in the state of California, and we are considered out-of-network providers. If you select an ND as your PCP you will need to pay at the time of service for your care.

Do you take my insurance?
No, insurance companies do not contract with Naturopathic Doctors in the state of California. Depending on your out of network benefits, you may be able to get some or all of your visit price reimbursed. We can provide you with a medical receipt (Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Certain lab tests and imaging can be billed to your insurance, depending on your plan. We recommend that you contact your insurance company to find out if this will work for you.

What about FSAs or HSAs?
You can use your FSA or HSA for anything in our office including office visit, supplements, Vitamin Shots, or IV Therapy.

How much do visits cost?
The initial visit cost ranges from $349-395, depending on the doctor you see. Follow up visits range from $80-225, depending on how much time is needed and the doctor you are seeing. Other services like Vitamin Shots and IV therapy range in price depending on the nutrients included—please see our Vitamin Shot and IV Therapy page for more details. Prices subject to change.

Are there any additional costs?
The cost of lab testing, supplements, medications, Vitamin Shots, and IV therapy are not included in the visit service price. Your doctor can work with you to find the best price for the additional services that you need, or work with your budget to determine which treatment option is the most important for you. The goal is always to provide you the best service and give you treatment options that work for you, so please talk to your doctor if cost is a concern.

Sliding scale visit prices may be an option depending on your circumstance. Please schedule an introduction visit and talk to one of doctors about if this could be an option for you.
