FAQs

Do I need an appointment to come into the clinic?
Yes, we request that you call and schedule an appointment before coming to the clinic.

How long are visits?
Initial adult new patient exams are typically 2 hours. This gives our doctors time to go over your health history and current health conditions, do a physical exam, suggest medications or supplements, and formulate a treatment plan unique to you. Pediatric and acute visits are often 1 hour.

Follow up visits are anywhere from 15-60 minutes long, depending on how much time your doctor thinks that you will need.

Why are visits so long?
An appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor is significantly longer than an appointment with your traditional medical doctor! We strive to find the cause of your health concerns, which can be complicated and multifactorial. We want to get to know you and your lifestyle and work with you to come up with a plan that is unique to you.

Can you be my PCP?
PCP, primary care provider, is defined as the first point of contact for acute and chronic illnesses. It’s who holds the pieces of your care. At SCNMC our naturopathic doctors can do these things for you. However, insurance does not recognize Naturopathic Doctors in the state of California, and we are considered out-of-network providers. If you select an ND as your PCP you will need to pay at the time of service for your care.

Do you take my insurance?
We do not take insurance and require full payment at the time of your appointment.

That said, we are more than happy to provide you with you a super bill to request reimbursement. Depending on your out of network benefits, you may be able to get some or all of your visit price reimbursed.

Certain lab tests and imaging can be billed to your insurance, depending on your plan. We recommend that you contact your insurance company to find out if this will work for you.

What about FSAs or HSAs?
You can use your FSA or HSA for anything and everything in our office including office visits, labs, supplements, Vitamin Shots and IV Therapy.

How much do visits cost?
The initial adult new patient exam is 2 hours and costs $645 . The initial visit is a one time visit - once we have all of your history, you never need to do a full new patient intake again.

Follow up visits range from $145 for a 15 minute follow to $225 for a 30 minute follow up. Other services like Vitamin Shots and IV therapy range in price depending on the nutrients included—please see our Vitamin Shot and IV Therapy page for more details.

Are there any additional costs?
The cost of lab testing, supplements, medications, Vitamin Shots, and IV therapy are not included in the visit service price. Your doctor can work with you to find the best price for the additional services that you need, or work with your budget to determine which treatment option is the most important for you. The goal is always to provide you the best service and give you treatment options that work for you, so please talk to your doctor if cost is a concern.

Do you have more questions or would like to learn more? Please schedule a Free introduction visit and talk to one of doctors about if this could be an option for you.
