IV VITAMIN & MINERAL THERAPIES

IV nutritional therapy can provide enormous health benefits and lead to increased energy, enhanced immune support, and a better overall sense of well being.

Rejuvenating your body with Intravenous (IV) Nutritional Therapy can provide enormous health benefits. In many respects, IV nutritional therapy is a preventive aging measure. The therapy is so powerful that many patients report benefits within hours of receiving the treatment. In general, these therapies are very safe, well tolerated and pose minimal if any negative side effects. If you are suffering from the following:

  • Lyme Disease

  • Cancer

  • Detoxification

  • General Immune & Wellness Support

  • Asthma

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Allergies and Sinusitis

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • Chronic Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Acute and Chronic Viral infections

...or if you are an athlete in need of faster healing and recovery, IV Vitamin Therapy may help to rejuvenate your body and help you to feel better again.

What is Intravenous Nutritional Therapy?

Intravenous (IV) nutritional therapy is a method of delivering vitamins, minerals and other vital nutrients to the body directly into the bloodstream. A small intravenous catheter is temporarily placed into a vein, and the nutrients can be administered slowly over a period of time that is dependent upon the nutrients that are used.

For example, some nutrients can be administered over a 5 to 15 minute period; however, most intravenous infusions last approximately 30 to 45 minutes. In effect, IV Nutritional Therapy "foods" the cells with nutrients and can increase and optimize cellular health. IV therapy is particularly relevant since many vitamin and mineral supplements are not well absorbed by the body.

For some people, barriers exist in the gastrointestinal tract that prevent adequate absorption. But with IV therapy, we can safely deliver large doses of nutrients safely into a vein that would otherwise not be tolerated if administered orally. This is what we mean by "fooding" the cells with nutrients. Vitamins, minerals, amino acids and certain other nutrients can have an incredibly potent drug-like effect when given directly into a vein, but without the side effects of many prescription medications.

All of the nutrients we use are natural and safe to be administered intravenously. IV nutritional therapy may be needed only a few times, or needed periodically for an extended period of time. The benefits and specific protocol are dependent on the individual patient and the problem(s) being treated.

What are the benefits of Intravenous Nutritional Therapy?

IV nutritional therapy can provide enormous health benefits depending on the condition(s) being treated, the specific protocol(s) used, the number of treatments and the overall health of the patient being treated. In many respects, IV nutritional therapy is a preventive aging measure since it improves the nutritional content inside of the cells. Some of the specific benefits that patients may experience include: (1) Increased energy, (2) An overall sense of well being, (3) Improved sports performance, (4) Improved healing and recovery from sports "wear and tear" or even surgical procedures (5) Enhanced immune support, and (6) Stress relief. IV therapy is so powerful that many patients report many of these benefits within hours of receiving the treatment. Some conditions including chronic diseases like Fibromyalgia require periodic treatments in order to maintain the benefits.

What is the Myers' cocktail?

The Myers' cocktail is one of the more commonly known vitamin therapies and is sometimes referred to as the "Wellness" cocktail. It consists of Magnesium, Calcium, Selenium, Manganese, Zinc, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin C. People who feel run down, "stressed out" and fatigued may benefit tremendously from the Myers' cocktail. Many report that they feel completely rejuvenated after a single treatment, and the results can last from several days to several months.

What are the side effects of Intravenous Nutritional Therapy?

The most common complications of Intravenous Nutrient therapy include pain, irritation, inflammation or bruising at the injection site. Systemic complications such as an allergy to a substance can occur, but this is rare and is associated when using a solution that contains preservatives. The ingredients used in the IV nutritional therapies at The Santa Cruz Naturopathic Medical Center do not contain any preservatives. In general, these therapies are very safe, well tolerated and pose minimal if any negative side effects.

How do I get started?

The first step in considering IV nutritional therapy is to schedule a Comprehensive Initial Assessment. With lab results in hand combined with your detailed health history and specific issues, your doctor will outline the specific treatment plan that is most likely to help you improve your health.

Specific protocols offered at the Naturopathic Medical Center:

  • Myers' Cocktail

  • Glutathione

  • Nutritional

  • High Dose Vitamin C

  • Anti-Viral (chronic and acute)

As with all IV treatments basic blood work and an initial exam/interview with the doctor are required before any treatment can begin.
